Marketing & Events Manager

Location: Hythe, Kent (will require some national & international travel)

Job Type: Permanent / Contract

Salary: £25,000 to £30,000 (plus benefits)

In today’s business environment, corporate events can be an invaluable tool to foster good will and create positive client engagement. We host software focussed corporate events in the UK, Europe and the US and need a full time dedicated Events Manager to join our team and assume overall responsibility for defining the future events schedule, ensuring each event is successful and generating a positive rate of return. The role will predominantly be based in Hythe, Kent but will require occasional travel both nationally and internationally.

Profile needed:

You will need energy and a can-do attitude, an innovative outlook with drive, project management experience and influencing skills. As the lead Marketing and Events contact, you will need to develop strong working relations with internal stakeholders, business partners and clients. You will need persuasive skills and the ability to position yourself as a trusted advisor to be relied upon. You will be naturally inquisitive with the ability to develop a thorough understanding of our business and the software markets we operate in.

The role will involve:

  • Designing and managing the delivery of go to market plans, campaigns and activities to support growth
  • Delivering a variety of marketing activities including direct marketing, digital, events programmes, awards and sponsorships
  • Maintaining and updating website content for conferences, events and seminars
  • Identifying and securing sponsors for software themed events
  • Developing marking material and collateral
  • Ensuring each event is fully subscribed and well attended
  • Working with the business to develop written content for internal and external audiences
  • Monitoring short and long-term ROI measures and taking responsibility for delivery and evaluation of ROI on specific campaigns
  • Helping to develop events from proposal to delivery
  • Setting, communicating and maintaining project timelines and priorities
  • Developing target list and promoting events
  • Developing contacts to secure appropriate and good-value venue hire
  • Liaising with external suppliers including venues, caterers, speakers etc
  • Create suggestions to enhance the success of events
  • Deliver events on time, within budget, that meet (and hopefully exceed) expectations
  • Organise appropriate sponsorship and co-badging of external events

Essential skills and experience

  • Experience organising and marketing corporate events
  • Commercial awareness with an outcome focus
  • Excellent verbal and written (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) communication skills with the ability to liaise, influence and challenge effectively
  • Ability to generate credibility and respect at senior levels
  • Self-starter able to operate effectively on your own and as part of a team
  • Able to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives and manage multiple projects
  • Creative and innovative approach
  • An eye for emerging trends and a curious mind
  • University Degree - BA or B.SC
